Mathematics/Actuarial Science Track

This area program is designed for students interested in the actuarial profession. (Actuaries use mathematics, statistics, and financial theory to analyze the economic costs of risk and uncertainty. They typically work for insurance companies or financial companies.) This program gives a good foundation in actuarial science and helps students prepare for actuarial exams and other requirements for entering that profession.

  • MAT 338 Ordinary Differential Equations, or
  • courses from MAT or STA 400-599. Students planning on taking Actuarial Exam P are strongly encouraged to take MAT 455 Probability in the Actuarial Sciences
